Creation detailed 3D model of the territory, intended for use in the design project for the development of a hotel complex and adjacent landscape improvement areas

As part of this project, the team Aerostream completed a set of works to create detailed 3D model of the territory, intended for use in the design project for the development of a hotel complex and adjacent landscape improvement areas.

The project's primary goal is to obtain an accurate and visual spatial model of the site, which will serve as the basis for architectural, landscape, and urban planning decisions.

Technology and equipment

The project employed an integrated approach, utilizing both aerial and ground-based survey methods, to achieve high data accuracy and completeness.

Equipment used:

DJI Matrice 350 RTK with a camera Zenmuse P1 — for aerial photography;
DJI Matrice 4E — for detailed shooting of individual areas;
CHC RS10 Laser Scanner — for mobile terrestrial laser scanning.

This combination of technologies made it possible to capture both the overall structure of the territory and small elements critical to design.

Field work

Field stage parameters:

Work area — 20 hectares
Spatial resolution – 1 cm/pixel
Number of photos – 7,900
Duration of field work - 2 days

Thanks to careful planning and the use of mobile technologies, the field phase was completed quickly and without any loss of data quality.

Office data processing

After the survey was completed, office data processing was carried out, including:

photogrammetric processing of aerial photographs;
laser scanning data processing;
integration of air and ground data;
construction of a detailed 3D model of the territory.

⏱ Office processing period - 2 weeks.

Final materials

As a result, the customer received:

highly detailed 3D model of the site;
precise geometry of relief and objects;
a visual basis for architectural and landscape solutions;
the ability to use the model in design projects, presentations and approvals.

Using a 3D model at an early design stage significantly reduces the number of revisions, improves the quality of solutions, and simplifies communication between architects, designers, and the client.

Surveying for land reclamation works

Filming for Reclamation Works

Obtaining a digital elevation model and topographic plan of the area to identify potential watercourses for land reclamation works.

As part of this project, our team conducted a comprehensive aerial survey of a large land plot to produce a digital elevation model (DEM) and a 1:500 scale topographic map. The resulting data was used to analyze the terrain and identify potential watercourses necessary for subsequent reclamation planning.

Field work

Aerial photography was carried out using an unmanned aerial vehicle. Geoscan 201, equipped with a camera Sony ILX. This configuration allows for the production of materials suitable for creating large-scale topographic plans and detailed digital elevation models.

Key shooting parameters:

Work area — 113 km²
Number of flights - 7
Spatial resolution — 4.5 cm/pixel
Number of photos – 12,100
Duration of the field stage (Air Defense + AFS) - 4 days

Despite the large area, the survey was completed within a tight timeframe, meeting all requirements for coverage and the quality of the source data.

Office data processing

After completing the fieldwork, photogrammetric processing of the aerial survey data was completed. This stage included:

photo alignment;
construction of a dense point cloud;
formation of a digital elevation model;
creation of an orthophotoplan.

AFS data processing period - 4 days.

The result was obtained orthophotomap with a spatial resolution of 4.5 cm/pixel, providing high surface detail and suitable for engineering and analytical tasks.

Final materials

The final stage of the project was the creation topographic plan at a scale of 1:500, meeting the requirements for engineering surveys and design work.

Deadline for completing the topographic plan — up to 45 days.

The obtained materials allow:

accurately assess the features of the relief;
identify depressions and directions of water flow;
use the data in further design of reclamation and engineering solutions.

As a result, the client received a complete set of up-to-date spatial data—from the initial orthophotomap to a large-scale engineering topographic plan. This approach enables informed design decisions and significantly reduces risks in subsequent stages of the project.
